About Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy

Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy is an all-girls public school serving grades 6-12 for the Houston Independent School District. The school opened in 2011 and celebrated the first graduation class in 2015.

Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy was one of four HISD schools to rank among the top 100 schools in the country coming in at number 97.

Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy (YWCPA) provides a nurturing environment that encourages individual integrity, fosters social responsibility, strengthens the mind, and creates a responsible, organized, sisterhood of excellence that challenges all students to achieve at their highest level and provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to become leaders in the world.

At YWCPA, we look forward to producing young women who will change the face of history by being influential contributors to our world; and by leading global marketplaces through their work in science, technology, engineering, and math.

While YWCPA students benefit from an intimate, private-school setting, all students attend free of charge. Because of the generous support from friends like you, we are able to consistently offer high-quality education to all of our students without having to compromise our academic standards and core values.

YWCPA has positively impacted me in so many ways and has shaped me into the strong young woman that I am today. I have attended YWCPA since I was in the 6th grade, and during this time, I have learned how to manage my time wisely when it comes to receiving a lot of homework giving me that little taste of what college is going to be like and preparing me for my future. Another thing I love about my school is the recitation of the ROSE Creed. I love reciting the creed every morning because it gives me the confidence to keep pushing and work harder every day!! I also love the fact that YWCPA is the true definition of what sisterhood really is, and I am grateful to find the best group of sisters to graduate with!!

YWCPA allowed me to be completely prepared for college. It allowed me to be confident in myself and to not feel embarrassed or ashamed to be smart. I’m thankful for the school and the people who were there for me.

YWCPA provided me with the opportunities to grow professionally and explore areas in STEM. These opportunities gave me a head start when I got to college. Especially when it came to networking and putting myself out there as a professional.

I could not be more grateful to everyone at YWCPA for an amazing 7 years. I have been given so many opportunities from different angles to grow as a person. Principal WIlliams and all of the administrators have always supported and encouraged me every year. I was fortunate to learn from the most dedicated, caring, and understanding teachers who have helped me personally do well. They knew when I was worried or needed to be cheered up. I could reach out and ask for help without hesitation. I truly feel that I have made the most of these 7 years, from the classes and opportunities, to the family-like community. I look forward to staying connected with YWCPA after I graduate. From the bottom of my heart, thank you truly very much to Principal Williams, the administration, and all of the teachers for giving me the best experience I could ask for!

Attending YWCPA positively impacted me by introducing me to my dream career, chemical engineering. In addition, attending YWCPA prepared me for college. I was not only able to enter college as a sophomore due to both AP and dual credits, but the advanced classes I took at YWCPA prepared me for the workload and time management skills I would need to succeed in college. Attending YWCPA also provided me with a support system after graduating. I was not only able to reach out to my previous classmates, but also teachers for advice.

I think that my time at YWCPA not only actively prepared me for the rigors of college academics, but helped me to build a strong confidence that I can achieve my goals.
