Laura Doughty is the proud principal of the Young Women’s Leadership Academy at Booker T. Washington in Midland, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Texas State University and Masters in Educational Leadership from UT of the Permian Basin. Principal Doughty has been in education for 16 years, 11 of those years in Midland ISD. While in the classroom taught elementary reading and junior high English, as well as serving as department chair. In 2019, she left the classroom to serve as YWLA’s first assistant principal when the school opened its doors. In 2021, she transitioned into the principal role for the campus. Principal Doughty is passionate about the school’s mission to provide girls with advanced academics and leadership experiences that will allow them to persist through college and in their future careers.
