DR. SHARONDA PRUITT

A native of Dallas, Texas, Sharonda Pruitt is a lifelong educator with 20 years in public schooling. An accomplished urban school reform practitioner, she has expertise in instituting magnet programs, career themed academies and transforming middle and comprehensive high schools. She has served as a teacher, 21st Century Community Learning Center Site Coordinator, department chair, Dean of Instruction, Associate Principal for Teaching and Learning and a head campus leader. She worked as a Legislative Compliance Coordinator, assisting in facilitating newly passed legislation into district policy and procedures and also served as adjunct for the Johns Hopkins Graduate School of Education. Her civic duties include acting as the director of the Clifton Porter Memorial Scholarship Fund, serving as Board Member for the Young Women’s Preparatory Network, and acting a member of the Board of Managers for Moorland YMCA. In 2018, she received the Texas Association of Black School Board Members Administrator of the Year Award. Sharonda has also been named to the U.S. State Department Fulbright Specialist Roster until 2021. Currently, she serves as the Director of Aspire Programs for Texas A&M University at Commerce. A graduate of Skyline High School in Dallas, she holds a bachelors degree from Southern Methodist University. She has earned a Masters and Doctorate in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
