DR. KOSHI DHINGRA

Dr. Koshi Dhingra is the Founder and Director of talkSTEM a non-profit organization that promotes STEM and STEAM education with a focus on broadening participation by underrepresented groups (girls and low income students). Previously, she was Assistant Director of the Science and Engineering Education Center at the University of Texas at Dallas where she launched Contact Science, an outreach program designed to engage the community in STEM activities. She has about 30 years experience in the field of science education as teacher, researcher, teacher educator, and administrator in New York, New Jersey and Texas. She is a Board Member of KIPP DFW Charter Schools, Greenhill School (Addison, TX), and is on Dallas County Community College District’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) Institute Advisory Board.

Dr. Dhingra has published research articles in the Journal of Research in Science Teaching, Studies in Science Education, Cultural Studies in Science Education, among others, and has also co-edited the book, Change Agents in Science Education. She has spoken at professional conferences including the Annual Conferences of AERA (American Educational Research Association) and NARST (National Association of Research in Science Teaching). She has contributed to publications including Critical Thinking and Learning and the Second International Handbook of Science Education. She has consulted for Blues Clues, an educational television program for young children and for Time for Teachers, an online professional development program for teachers nationwide, organized and implemented by Time for Teachers, a subsidiary of Time Magazine. She has also consulted for several independent schools in DFW on science curriculum and pedagogy. She has taught teacher education courses at Teachers College, Columbia University, City University of New York, University of North Texas, among others and has held tenure track faculty positions at two of these institutions. Previously, she has taught middle and high school science courses in independent schools in New York City.

Dr. Dhingra earned her Ed.D in Science Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York and her B.Sc from the National University of Singapore where she majored in biochemistry and microbiology. She lives in Dallas with her husband and three children.
